GSXR Rearset Plates
Some of you may have followed Brendan “Pro-Lux-Racing” thread about after market rear set riser plates. If not here it is in a nut shell….
I contacted Pro-Lux Racing with an idea of manufacturing after market rear set plates to enhance OEM rear sets OR after market rear sets that use stock plates (Like Sato’s). I’ve searched the internet for countless hours trying to source something like this but only came up with one match and it wasn’t adjustable and looked very thin compared to the OEM unit & Pro-Lux Racing plates.
A lot of racers & trackday riders use OEM rear sets because they are easy to source and cheap to replace. Although they work fine, for some riders (like myself) they don’t offer the “right” ergonomics and ground clearance like after market sets do. In order to achieve the “right” ergo’s I need to move my pegs higher and further back. Which these Pro-Lux Racing sets do wonderfully!
Review:
These sets were sent out on Monday 12/14 and were received today 12/16 via USPS. Packaging was good, no damage what so ever. The plates are beautifully machined out of aluminum (in the USA) and feel like they are less weight then the stock cast junk. Bolted these plates up with no problems and in very little time (5 minutes for both sides).
I bolted these up (highest and furthest back) to a friends 06 600 with stock rear sets (his old bolt pattern was highest and furthest back on the OEM plates). All I can say is WOW! Big improvement with ergonomics! This is EXACTLY what I was looking for! I did a few spirited runs through some local back roads (nothing crazy, ground is still a bit damped by the rain) and the feel is just “right” (I like an aggressive riding position).
I will be doing a real test in the future where these plates really count, at the TRACK! They will be bolted up to my 07 750 with stock rear sets. I hope I achieve the ground clearance I’m after with these plates.
Pros:
Fraction of the price of after market rear sets. Obtain the “feel” you want out of your rear sets. Adjustable to achieve the right ergonomics.
Cons:
None! Only thing I wish is that these were offered sooner!
